ABOUT ERASMUS +

ERASMUS + is the European Union's program for education, training, youth and sport. This program has run from 2014 and consolidates a single framework supporting the areas of education, training, youth and sport and other international programs, including Jean Monnet and Erasmus Mundus.

The Erasmus + program is intended to support education, training, youth and sport in all sectors of lifelong learning, including higher education, vocational training, adult education, school education, youth activities and training in the field of sport.

GIPA has participated in the Erasmus+ Program since 2016.

GIPA offers individual mobility opportunities for learning or training purposes for its students, academic and administrative staff in Europe. These mobility projects will allow participants to travel to another country to study, work, teach, train and develop professional skills.

Erasmus+ exchange students may contact their home university for information regarding Erasmus+ scholarships and grants.

However, GIPA’s International Relations and Development Department will assist international students and academic staff in finding suitable accommodation.

Visa

Depending on your nationality, you may or may not require a visa to enter Georgia.

For additional information, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Georgian Embassy or Consulate in your country, or visit the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

Citizens and permanent residents of countries included in the relevant visa-free list may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa.

Please note that citizens of European Union member states may enter Georgia with either a valid travel document (passport) or a national identity card issued by an EU member state. The identity card must contain the holder’s first name, surname, date of birth, and photograph.

The maximum period of visa-free stay in Georgia for citizens of European Union member states is one year.

Insurance

When preparing for your stay in Tbilisi, it is important to arrange appropriate health insurance coverage in advance.

GIPA recommends that you contact your insurance provider before traveling to Georgia to confirm whether your insurance policy covers medical treatment and related expenses in Georgia.

Alternatively, you may purchase student health insurance from a Georgian insurance provider after you arrive in Tbilisi. In this case, please ensure that your travel insurance remains valid until your Georgian insurance policy becomes effective.

Please note that, according to Georgian legislation, from January 1, 2026, all foreign citizens entering Georgia are required to have valid health and accident insurance coverage for the entire duration of their exchange period.

The insurance policy may be issued by either a Georgian or a foreign insurance company. Insurance documentation must be available in either Georgian or English and may be presented in electronic or printed form.
