GIPA Art Factory af.gipa.ge Bachelor’s Program in Visual Communication (Advertising and Communication Design) announces admission to the pre-bachelor Portfolio Course for applicants.

You will discover how your ideas can transform into eye-catching designs or advertisements, bold visuals, and powerful messages. Learn the art of visual communication, advertising, branding, and creative communication from professional designers and creative mentors working in the advertising industry and design field. Create a distinctive portfolio and prepare to step into the world of visual storytelling and design thinking.

Successful graduates of the pre-bachelor course, if admitted to Visual Communication (Advertising and Communication Design) BA program at Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, will be granted priority and exempted from the mandatory creative exam component within the national examinations.

Program Description:

Week 1: Introduction to Visual Communication – Nino Liparteliani

What is visual communication? Visual communication is the art of speaking without words — through color, shape, image, movement, and design.

Saturday Workshop: Buba Radiani & Giorgi Kvitatiani

Disciplines of Visual Communication (D&AD) (30 min)
Project: “Visual Me” (90 min)
Design Everywhere and Every Day (30 min)
Project: “Visual Research” – Strategy in Visual Communication (90 min)

Week 2: Creative Team – Creative Minds – Toka Areshidze

Wednesday: Developing visual concepts through image and text, award-winning examples, cases.

Saturday Workshop: Giorgi Maghradze & Mari Sukhishvili

Introduction to Art Direction (30 min)
Creative Projects 2 (90 min each)

Week 3: Principles of Design and Composition – Akaki Razmadze

Wednesday: Typography and visual hierarchy, combiningfonts and images

Saturday Workshop: Shota Chinchaladze & Nika Kumbari; Ana Sanikidze & Levan Ratishvili

Fundamentals of Branding and Identity, the importance of the brief (60 min)
Project: Rebranding Project (60 min); style, framework, design, focus on visual tone, identity, typography, packaging, and overall mood.
Illustrated Packaging Design (60 min)
Project: Illustrated Typography for Packaging Design (90 min)

Week 4: Illustration and Conceptual Thinking – Tamara Gedevanishvili

Wednesday: Visual metaphor and idea generation techniques, expressing abstract ideas visually, storyboard techniques.

Saturday Workshop: Sopho Cherkezishvili

Conceptual Thinking (60 min)
Project: Series of Word-Based Conceptual Illustrations (90 min)
Project: Story-Based Illustration Series (90 min)

Week 5: Photo and Moving Image – Nino Gordeladze

Wednesday: Storytelling, complex creative approaches

Saturday Workshop: Dima Chikvaidze & Ana Chubinidze

  1. Project: Multimedia Storytelling, Photo Story (90 min)
  2. Project: Stop Motion (120 min)
  3. Project Presentation (30 min)

 

Week 6: Personal Project Development – Eka Kipiani

Wednesday: Ideas first, concept development, creative thinking

Saturday Workshop: Giorgi Avaliani

  1. Personal Branding / Concept (90 min)
  2. Project: Personal Story, using any visual method and technique (120 min)
  3. Final Discussion and Feedback (30 min)

Week 7: My First Portfolio

Wednesday: Best portfolios, guests: art director, designer, illustrator, motion graphic designer

  • What makes a strong portfolio?
  • Writing a project description
  • Presenting works and talking about them

Saturday Workshop: Students of the Bachelor’s Program in Visual Communication

Digital tools and platforms for portfolios — students help beginners create a strong portfolio.

Week 8: Art, Creativity and Technologies – Davit Jibladze

Wednesday: Technologies today, 100% human-created work versus artificial intelligence, AI and moving image

Saturday Workshop: Portfolio Review (FACE TO FACE)

Payment schedule: The fee is paid in full, prior to the start of the program.

Please note: If you are a minor, the registration form must be completed by your legal representative (e.g., a parent).

The program will start on March 9, 2026.

Meetings will be held twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On Wednesdays, sessions will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and on Saturdays — between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

The registration deadline is March 4, 2026.

Interviews with the selection committee will be conducted after March 4. An interview will be conducted with the participant and their legal representative.
