On October 10, 2018, a presentation ceremony of a new project, entitled Piloting Modern Trading Opportunities in Agriculture through Creation of Innovative Online Platform – AgroNet, was held at the Holiday Inn in Tbilisi.
The Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) with its implementing partners Elva Community Engagement (ELVA), Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA) and SMART Development Center, are organizing this project with the aim to increase trade opportunities and modernization in the agricultural and connected sectors through the creation of an innovative online platform - AgroNet.
The presentation ceremony was attended by ministerial representatives, state and non-governmental organizations, embassies and representatives from private companies.
The ceremony was opened by David Bujiashvili, Head of the EU Assistance and Coordination of the Sectoral Integration Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; Tengiz Kalandadze, Head of the Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia; Radu Liviu Horumba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Georgia, and Nana Kashakashvili, Head of the Rural Development and Vocational Education Department of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs.
The implementation of this new project will promote the strengthening of the trade potential between Black Sea basin countries in terms of agriculture and Georgia's integration into European structures.
The Joint Operational Programme Black Sea Basin 2014-2020 is co-financed by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument and by the participating countries: Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.
