GIPA FRiedman Prize Competition 2018

Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) and European Journalism Centre (EJC) are  announcing the opening of the contest to win Joshua Friedman and GIPA Prize for journalism excellence.  

The contest material should have been published from June 1 , 2017 to November 14, 2018.

The applications will be examined by the jury composed of the representatives of media outlets as well as academic field.

Professor Joshua Friedman, Pulitzer Prize winner for international reporting, will award the winner with the prize.

The prize to be awarded is EUR 1,500. The submission deadline is November 15, 2018.

Making evaluation the jury will take into account the principles of fairness, balancing, multiplicity of sources and application of neutral language. The topic of the project should include the issues of importance to the country, of public concern. The contest material shall reflect the impact of the given topic on the society. The given work should discuss the problem and injustice in a direct and comprehensible language. The developments should be presented in a way to attract readers, listeners, viewers. The journalism project should demonstrate the author’s skills in regard to conducting research, analysis, and obtaining interviews and should be based on several sources. The project shall feature the individuals affected by the given problem as well as the ones being responsible for their solution.

 

Requested documents and contest material should be delivered at GIPA’s Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management until November 15, 2018.
