“Spaces of Transformation” - a Joint Exhibition by GIPA and Alanus University at the Silk State Museum

16 April, 2026

On April 18, the media art exhibition “Spaces of Transformation” will open at the Silk State Museum.

The project is organized by the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences and the Audio-Visual Arts (AVA) Program of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), with the support of the Institute of Foreign Affairs of Germany (IFA).

The Georgian-German exchange project is represented on the German side by Professor Tessa Knapp from Alanus University, and on the Georgian side by Professor Soso Dumbadze from GIPA. They participate in the project together with their academic institutions and students.

The exhibition brings together media artworks on diverse themes, exploring transformation, the internal and external factors shaping change and their interconnections, contemporary socio-political and media-critical issues, body perception and gender, discrimination, capitalism, autocracy, reflections on mortality, and individual responsibility.

Inspired by the Silk Museum’s collection and the metaphor of the “silk park,” the project raises questions about the role of art in the dynamics of change within an experimental space, and fosters dialogue between societies beyond national borders, encouraging alternative forms of coexistence.

The exhibition features works by 20 artists and will be open from April 18 through May 1.
