The students of the Bachelor Program in Economics of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) visited the Cash Center of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG). A lecture on the money emission function of the NBG and organization of money circulation in Georgia was held in the meeting room of the center. Afterward, the students got acquainted with the proceses of cash receiving, processing and packaging, detecting banknotes that were not suitable for circulation and destroying them.
The students also got an opportunity to visit the Money Marks Expertise Lab, where they were presented with the protective signs og Georgian Lari and other currency banknotes’ and modern technical means of detecting counterfeit money. Students were introduced to the Cash Center Security System, which fully complies with international standards. Staff at the Cash Center answered the students' questions in a comprehensive manner. In conclusion, Prof. Merab Kakulia, Head of the Bachelor Program in Economics, thanked the NBG for its cordial hospitality.
