A brief description of the experience

Master's degree in philology was awarded at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. He has been teaching the history of Western art and literature in higher educational institutions for 14 years. In addition to higher educational institutions, for 12 years he taught Georgian language and literature, as well as the history of Western art, in private and public schools. Along with his teaching activities, Zaal Chkheidze was engaged in editorial activities, for years he was the editor-in-chief of the "Literary Palette" magazine, he is also the co-founder and director of the first Georgian electronic library, lib.ge, the co-founder and editor of the literary magazine "L'il", Since 2022, he has been a member of the editorial board and author of the magazine "Humanitarian Education in School", style and technical editor of more than 20 researches and publications. Over the years, he was a member of the jury o a number of literary contests and prizes (including: "Rustaveli State Prize", "Machabeli", "Pen Marathon", “Tserfo", "Autumn Legend" and others). In addition, since 2007, he has been translating fiction from English, French, Spanish and Russian into Georgian. Translations include a number of works by Charles Bukowski, novels and short stories by Mark Twain, Alexander Dumas (son), Arthur Conan Doyle, Doris Lessing, Marguerite Duras and François Sagan; poems by Carl Sandberg, Edgar Lee Masters, Patricia Donegan, Amy Lowell, Matsuo Basho, Ono no Komachi, Izumi Shikibu, Juan Ramon Jimenez, Federico García Lorca, Dulce Maria Loinaz, Pablo Neruda, Gabriela Mistral and other American, Japanese, Spanish and Latin American poets.

Research interests: 

European, American and Latin American literature of the twentieth century, Georgian literature of the twentieth century and its place in the world literary process, magical realism and surrealism, symbolist, modern and pre-modern forms in visual art.
