Tamar Koberidze holds Ph.D in Social Sciences from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA). Tamar has over 20 years of a consulting and practical experience in development cooperation, focusing on the South Caucasus, through both international and Georgian non-governmental and governmental sectors. She has extensive experience in carrying out strategic analyses for International Donors, operating in Georgia, in preparation of support to organizations and implementation of projects, programs, and strategies, as well as in mentorship and assistance to Georgian civil society organizations and small and medium-size enterprises to further develop their capacities. Expertise includes, but is not limited to grant-making, data collection and analyses, M&E, Economic Empowerment, gender mainstreaming, altering funding sources, economic empowerment, communications and networking, organizational development, monitoring & evaluation, etc.
Tamar has worked directly with more than 100 Civil Society Organizations of different portfolios, engaged in development at local/community, and national levels. In 2013-2015, under Tamar’s supervision, more than 100 CSOs were evaluated and received tailored Capacity Development assistance; the Regional Network of about 50 CSOs was created; more than 100 CSOs have learned how to implement advocacy campaigns and alternate funding sources through various tools, including new media; a Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Georgian Parliament and Georgian CSOs; about ten CSO-private partnerships have been created. Since 2009, as an invited professor at GIPA Tamar has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in “Civil Society and its role in democratic development”, “Non-Profit Management”, and “Political Lobbying and Advocacy. From 2009-2014 she was also a member of the GIPA Academic Council and contributed to the development of academic standards, and new initiatives, establishing cooperation with local and international partners. She led and/or participated in several country-wide and/or sectoral/organizational surveys and assessments, and she is the author of academic articles and case studies. Georgian national, she is fluent in English and Russian languages.
