Founded in 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey, Üsküdar University is a private foundation university established by the Human Values and Mental Health Foundation under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, known as Turkey’s first thematic university.
The university is recognized for its strong focus on psychology, neuroscience, behavioral sciences, health sciences, and mental health research. It integrates education, research, and clinical practice through its affiliated healthcare institutions, including the NP Istanbul Neuropsychiatry Hospital, NP Feneryolu Medical Center, and NP Etiler Medical Center, which together form the Neuropsychiatry Health, Practice, and Research Center (NPSUAM).
In 2014, it further expanded its academic scope by establishing the Institute for Sufism Studies, a pioneering initiative in Turkey.
The university is home to distinguished academics and researchers and is committed to advancing innovative approaches in neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, and healthcare. Building on the legacy of the NP Group, which introduced groundbreaking services such as brain check-ups, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and Turkey’s first neuropsychiatry hospital, the university continues to contribute to scientific research and clinical excellence.
