“The Challenges of Drug Policy“

In observance of Human Rights Week, the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs with the support of “Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia PROLoG Activity” is pleased to invite you to a public discussion on December 6th at 19:00 at the media club “Frontline Georgia” concerning the current situation on Drug Policy in Georgia:

 “The Challenges of Drug Policy

 The following speakers will participate in the discussion: 

Ekaterine Khutsishvili – Head of the Criminal Justice Department at the Public Defender’s Office.

Ekaterine Khutsishvili will discuss the current legislation on Drug Policy and the Georgian Government’s approach, experience of the Public Defender’s Office and problematic issues that arise as a result of implementation of a such policy.  

Guram Imnadze – Project Coordinator at the “Human Rightts Education and Monitoring Center (EMC)”.  

Guram Imnadze will speak about the logic behind the criminal regulation of drug use, sanctions for the purchase/use of drugs, and the liberalization of the legislation – why it is necessary and to what extent it can be implemented.
