GIPA’s School of Government organised a meeting with Irakli Sesiashvili, one of the leaders of the Coalition – Georgian Dream and the Chairman of the Defence and Security Committee of the Parliament. Among the participants of the meeting were the students of the master’s programmes in Public Administration, Local Self-government and others. The leader of the political party discussed the on-going political processes and presented to the audience the future plans of the party. In his speech, Irakli Sesiashvili paid special attention to the importance of country’s democratic development but the central topic of the meeting was the state defence policy. The meeting continued in the form of a discussion and a Q&A session touching on the following subjects: major threats facing the country, shortcomings in the area of state defence policy, revision of the compulsory military service programme and other issues related to the matters of security and defence.
