European Journalism Training Association Conference, Award Ceremony of the Joshua Friedman-GIPA Prize for the Best Work in Journalism

On 16 June, in Tbilisi Marriott, at 10 am, the Rector of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), Marine Ioseliani, opens the annual conference of the European Journalism Training Association (EJTA). The man theme of which is Media-literacy – A New Reality.

The main speaker of the conference will be the Regional Director of the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, David Bloss along with the Director of the Dart Center Europe, Gavin Ross.

The winner of the Joshua Friedman-GIPA Prize for the best work in journalism will be announced at the end of the work day. The prize will be awarded by the co-author of the contest and the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist –Joshua Friedman.

This is the first EJTA conference that is being held in Georgia. It is attended by Georgian, European and American journalists, media researchers and media school representatives who discuss the following topics throughout the three panels of the conference:  

  • Rapidly advancing technology and the challenges for journalists

  • Today and tomorrow of media-literacy and journalism education

  • Human tragedies, trauma and journalism

 The conference will be held on 16 June, in the meeting room of Tbilisi Marriott Hotel. The working languages of the conference are English and Georgian.
