Today, at GIPA’s School of Governance, the Deputy Minister of Energy, Irakli Khmaladze, met with the master’s
students. The meeting was interactive; the guest speaker discussed the existing energy policy in Georgia, its
challenges and future plans. The discussion touched on the perspectives of further developments in the energy
field. The speaker introduced students to the topics of electricity generation and its export. An interesting
discussion was sparked on the construction of hydroelectric power stations. Students also received information
about the policies related to the generation of energy from renewable resources. The Deputy Minister informed
the students that very soon a wind power station is to be put into operation in Gori, which is the first project of its kind in Georgia.
Similar meetings are planned to be held in the future as well.
