The renowned Italian designer Claudio Vagnoni’s visit to GIPA:

Day I, 19 May

18:00 – 22:00 – Master class on the topics of interior and furniture design and its integration in the space.

Day II, 20 May

19:00 – 21:00 – Presentation of Claudio Vagnoni’s book - Design Help.

A competition will be announced after the closing of the master class. Detailed information about the competition will be available at the venue. Georgian translation will be provided both for the master class and the presentation.

Target audience: designers, architects, interior designers, students pursuing degrees in these fields.

Information on the trainer:

Claudio Vagnoni was born in Rome (14.08.1945) and currently lives and works there as well. His work relates to interior design and video directing. From 2001 to 2006 he served as a Director of Frozinone Art Academy, after which he held the position of a Faculty Dean at the Rome Academy of Arts until 2012. In 2008 he became the President of Ceccano State University of Arts. In 2010 he was awarded the Raffaello Prize with the title - Excellence of the Italian Fashion. From 2004 he takes up new practice and holds workshops for professors at Yeditepe University of Design in Istanbul. His workshops continue in 2012 in the Academy of Arts in Georgia. In 2000, Mr. Vagnoni was the President of the ministerial committee at MIUR.

In the years 1975-1985 he was appointed as a docent in Rome’s School of Design. From 1979, Mr. Vagnoni starts working in the field of research focusing on design teaching techniques. It was due to his efforts that ASIA institute received the Golden Compass Award from ADI (Industrial Design Association). In 1982 Claudio Vagnoni (representing ASIA Institute) received his first international award in collaboration with his students with the project – The Office of the Future (Paris, Barbour). In 1982 he became a docent in the role of a designer for foreign graduates. In 1983 his collaboration with the ASIA Rome students was awarded the first prize at the CEE competition. In 1983, Claudio was invited to attend the ICSID congress in Milan – From a Spoon to the City, which hosted 100 designers. In the years 1996-2001 he was named the author of the project ZONA FRANCA.

From the year 1976, Mr. Vagnoni works on designing seats for the airplanes and aircraft interiors. He was the designer of the business class seats which were presented in Dubai and Hamburg in 2010. His works have been published in Italian as well as foreign journals.  In 2010 he directed and produced two videos for the festival of the Sicily region – Silver Venus. In 2012, he produced three further videos through Gangemi publications - Help Design, Auto Portrait and Artificial Flowers. Finally, in 2013, Claudio Vagnoni directed Help to Think video specially for Tbilisi State Academy.
