The team representing the School of Law of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs and comprised of Lara Natchkebia, Ani Rukhadze, Nata Kokolashvili and Irakli Tchilaia participated in the international rounds of the 23rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot which took place on 17-25 March 2016 in Vienna. The goal of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration among the students of different countries. Starting from 1994 the competition in held annually in the capital of Austria - Vienna and brings together students, leading practitioners and law scholars from around the world. The competition is regarded as one of the most prestigious and at the same time the most large-scale events of the international commercial law in the world. In 2016, a record number of law schools took part in the competition, more specifically, 311 law schools from all corners of the world. Georgian Institute of Public Affairs has been successfully participating in the Willem C. Vis Moot for two years now. In this year’s Moot competition, GIPA’s team competed against the teams from Hamburg, South Methodist, San Paolo and Aalborg universities and was given high marks and positive feedback from the arbitrators.
