On 29 October, at 7:30, the Frontline Club Georgia will host a presentation of a new book authored by Tornike Sharashenidze, Head of the International Affairs Program at GIPA – The History of Diplomacy.
Tornike Sharashenidze is currently a Professor at GIPA (Georgian Institute of Public Affairs) and the Head of the MA Program in International Affairs. He worked as an international economics and politics observer for the newspaper Rezonansi and 24 Saati (1996-2002), National Security Council Analyst (2003-2004), Assistant to the Prime Minister in the Matters of Foreign Policy (2005), Director of the NATO Information Center in Georgia (2006), Researcher in the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (2007).
Lasha Bughadze – “Apart from the fact that Tornike Sharashenidze relates the events of the First World War (which can be considered as a logical continuation to his previous book, The History of IXX Century Dipomacy, the book which concludes with a providential-fatalistic foretelling of Otto Von Bismarck) with an astonishing interest, inadvertently, this new book also makes us think about the current problems of our modernity, as the old and seemingly forgotten dramas of Europe unexpectedly resurface in Europe or its neighbouring countries in the form of anachronistic regimes that hinder the progress of history. This is a deep and most importantly, an adeptly written historical-analytical piece, the reading of which will introduce to numerous important, thought-provoking and paradoxical details about the Europe of 100 years ago.”
