On Tuesday, January 27th, at 19:00, a career diplomat - Mikheil Darchiashvili, is meeting with the students of GIPA.
The invited speaker will talk about the process of joining NATO, opportunities and challenges in this direction. Considering security challenges in region, during the meeting , the results of NATO summit in Wales will be assessed - as the opportunity of strengthening the alliance and increasing safety in Georgia.
Mikheil Darchiashvili is a career diplomat with 14 years of experience. From July 2013 – until November 2014, he held the position of Deputy Defense Minister of Georgia. His curatorial direction was international relations and country's integration process in NATO. He was directly involved in negotiation process about Georgia-related issues with NATO, during the Wales Summit.
During 2001-2012, MR. Darchiashvili held various positions in diplomatic service. In 2004-2008 he worked in Brussels, NATO's mission in Georgia; in 2008-2013 worked as a senior advisor at Georgian embassy in United States, later he led the positions of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy.
Mikheil Darchiashvili is the graduate of Georgian Institute of Public Affairs; Master of Public Administration, class of 2001.
