Introduction
The goal of the LL.M Program is to provide graduate legal education to a large pool of students who already hold JD, or bachelor’s degree in law and are interested to increase their knowledge in specific areas of law as well as their ability to work in the English language. The program aims at fulfilling the gap created by existing legal education system, which still largely maintains the features of the Soviet legal education.
The curriculum of the LL.M Program is designed both to give students theoretical knowledge and practical experience in different fields of Law. The course covers basic legal skills, such as Contract Drafting and Legal Writing, as well as specific areas of International Law, such as International Human Rights Law, International Business Transactions, EU Law, etc.
The LL.M Program offers two major aspects of International Law: International Business Law and International Human Rights Law.
Students specializing in International Business Law can pursue subjects that incorporates international, comparative and domestic approaches to legal issues related to business; such as International Business Transactions, Comparative Contract Law, International Corporate law, Domestic and International Banking, International Financial Law, etc.
International Human Rights Law includes the following subjects: International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, International Criminal Law, EU Law, etc.
GIPA LL.M Program offers an intensive and creative learning environment with qualified international and western-trained Georgian faculty using western teaching methodology. Leading specialists in every area of law contribute their knowledge and experience to the curriculum of the program as well as the teaching process.
The LL.M program graduates, will be qualified to practice law on international as well as national arena, they will be fully capable to practice law in the English language, conduct legal research or work on cases in many different fields of law.
