Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai” movie screening
International affairs program continues movie screening for students at Amirani cinema hall Amarkordi.
On the 10-th of December was conducted movie screening of “Seven Samurai”.
The movie was produced in 1953 by Akira Kurosawa and is interesting by historical as well as theory of
Strategy point of view. The plot revolves around historically complicated period in history of Japan,
when a trend of private internecine samurai warfare led to the collapse of the centralized
Shogunate rule. Power devolved to local daimyo or warlords who competed among themselves for national
dominance. At the same time the advent of guns and gunpowder were changing the way wars were fought and
helping to make the subtle samurai fighting less dominant.
Our students will have opportunity to see the next movie, “Apocalypses Now”, at the end of January. |
